To meet program language proficiency requirements, as determined by Student Services, students are required to take an English Language Proficiency assessment prior to starting any vocational training program. Assessments are evaluated to determine the appropriate English Language support program needed prior to enrollment in vocational training. Eligible Culinary Workers Union Local 226 and Bartenders Union Local 165 members qualify for free training as part of their union benefits package.
This program provides basic English as a second language instruction to beginning students. Students learn to read, write, and speak English. Upon course completion, students will be prepared to enroll in the Vocational English class. No knowledge of the English language is required to enroll in this program.

Learn MoreThis program provides basic-to-intermediate knowledge of the English language for enrollment in the Guest Room Attendant, House Person and Utility Porter, or Kitchen Steward programs. Students study English grammar and learn vocation-specific vocabulary. Upon program completion, students will be able to engage in real-world conversations they will encounter in the hospitality industry.
